In the last few months we have been working on our project Proterra Maroc project. Despite the worldwide restrictions caused by COVID-19, preparations for the construction of the Aquadome could be resumed. Once completed, this lightweight building will protect our breeding tanks from the weather.
The timeline for sealing the breeding ponds has also been updated and work has resumed.
To green the desert, you need the right machines. To ensure that they can always do their job properly, you need tools - and more importantly, a mechanic. Our project has two - Colin and Mohamed have taken on the task of maintaining the ProTerra Maroc plant. For this purpose, they have set up a workshop that stores all the necessary tools and accessories.
This means that our tractors and the two quads are always ready for use. The tractors are used for field work and transporting materials. Our quads are used by the team to manage the work routes on our 150-hectare fish farm.
In mid-March this year, we welcomed the first 500 fish to our facility in Dakhla. Since then, they have been cavorting in our nursery tanks and had one job, to grow - and they did. Our cichlids have multiplied their weight from 2g to 500g.
Part of the fish population is now processed at the fish factory and stored frozen. Some of the fish fillets will then be sent to a food laboratory for testing and verification. After that we will be able to send the first samples to interested parties in Germany.
